Teacher Influence

With close to 50 years since we left Edison, I would like the class to remember the teachers that had an impact on us and what was about them.

I will start off with Mr. Butts (English Class).  He introduced me to the book by W. Somerset Maugham.  I must admit I did not spend much time reading the book while in his class but later I discovered the book and have read it numerous times since.  I found it inspiring and sad at the same time.  Every time I think of this book I remember Mr. Butts.  I never thanked him for this but I do remember him as someone that cared about his students.

Mrs. Dickinson, she was a late hire after school started.  She gave me praise when I probably didn't deserve it and confidence.  I know I never told her how much she helped me and I wish I would have.

Ash (Mr. Alexander) in band and orchestra!  He demanded our all and expected the best but encouraged us the whole time.  He passed away in 1988, way too soon.  We are trying to get a band/orchestra reunion up for Saturday of the reunion.  Go Screamin' Eagles
